Kenneth Tonn, 60, was sentenced last Friday to 6-20 years in prison for the deaths of David and Kathleen Gilfillan last summer. Tonn, whose blood alcohol content (BAC) was nearly twice the legal limit, lost control of his boat, which struck the Gilfillans, who were sitting on the back of a beached boat. Kathleen died instantly, David just under two weeks later.
Tonn, who pleaded guilty to a single count of manslaughter, rather than the two he was originally charged with, had his sentence cut in half under state guidelines.
