Illinois River Bargeman Files Suit Under Jones Act, Admiralty Law

February 19th, 2008 · No Comments

A sailor working on a barge sailing the Illinois River has filed an injury lawsuit against Osage Marine Services, alleging that it violated its Jones Act obligations by failing to provide a safe workplace. Tracey Fansheir, who hurt his back while working as a deckhand on the M/V Miss Mary Ann in January of this year, filed a lawsuit complaining that his employer failed to provide him with safe tools/equipment, as well as sufficient supervision, training, and assistance.

Fansheir is suing for lost wages, current and future pain and suffering, and medical expenses.
