21-year Veteran Dock Worker Dies in Accident

February 26th, 2008 · No Comments

Krzysztof Zarotynski, 56, a 21-year veteran dock worker, was killed Monday as the result of an accident at the Beckett Street Terminal. Zarotynski, a cargo crane operator, was preparing a crane to unload a docked ship when the accident occurred. The South Jersey Port Corporation (SJPC) reported that he was the first and only employee to have been killed while working at the dock in the SJPC’s fifty-year history.

The Public Employee Occupational Safety and Health Program, the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office, and SJPC itself are all conducting investigations of the incident.

Working on a ship poses many potential risks to life and limb, and it is the duty of employers to provide safe working environments for their employees. If you or someone you loves been hurt or killed while working at sea, call 866-950-9000 to speak with an admiralty lawyer from Williams Kherkher today.
